Plan Your Kona Vacation

Prepare for your Aloha adventure

This page is for you, trip planners. Either you are the Type-A personality of the group and live for this kind of detail, or you’ve stepped up to the plate because someone has to. Either way, the information below should answer any and all questions and help you plan your Big Island ATV Tour or Polynesian Wood Carving Tour with us. If you’re looking for things to do in Kailua-Kona, you’ve made the right choice with Aloha Adventure Farms!

Where are you located?

We are located near Kailua-Kona on the western coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Find directions to our location here. Please note that the Big Island (island of Hawaii) is not the same as Honolulu (island of O’ahu), Kauai, Maui, or Lanai.

What if I need to cancel?

You must cancel your Big Island ATV tour and Polynesian wood carving tour 48 hours prior to your tour. Groups larger than 6 are required to cancel 7 days prior to their tour. Any “no shows” or late cancellations will not be given a refund. Remember, due to the nature of our tours, scenery and weather may change without notice and any adjustments or cancellations may occur at any time. Please call us for availability.

Are masks required?

Masks are required inside our gift shop but not while actively participating in our ATV Tour.

What if I arrive late?

Our tours leave on time! Please arrive 30 mins early to make sure you are ready to roll at the time you booked. Late arrivals will not be able to join a tour that has already left and refunds are not given.

If it rains will the tours still go out?

The safety of our guests is our number priority and any adverse weather conditions are taken into consideration. Generally, unless there are high winds or lightning threatening (which happens very infrequently) our tours go out rain or shine. Aloha Adventure Farms reserves the right to cancel a tour or reservation if conditions are deemed unsafe. If we do so, we will refund your money for the portion that may have been cancelled. Some tours, such as the Big Island ATV tour, are actually preferred by many guests in rainy weather. The Polynesian cultural wood carving tour is under a covered roof.

Is packing/doubling allowed on ATVs?

Packing/doubling are not allowed on these Big Island ATV tours. Our equipment accommodates one person per ATV. Our multi passenger Polaris and Honda UTVs can accommodate children 3 years and older or those who do not feel comfortable driving an ATV by them self. Please note, children ages 3 & 4 must be accompanied by a parent on the UTV. Anyone not driving their own, single rider ATV will be driven by a tour guide the the UTV. NO exceptions.

Do I need to make reservations for any of the tours?

Yes, because all tours are guided and limited by our high standards and appropriate “guide to guest” ratios, reservations are highly recommended. Many tours have limited availability and will sell out during the week. Please book as far ahead as possible as there is limited availability year round and these tours usually will sell out 2-3 weeks in advance.

Is there a place to keep belongings while out on a tour?

Please leave extra belongings in your vehicle. We do not have storage lockers. We have a strict no phone / camera policy while operating ATV’s or participating in the carving session. Due to safety and time restraints we ask that you leave the pictures to one of our Staff.

Can I take my own pictures?

Yes! Aloha Adventure Farms is a stunningly beautiful place with amazing things to see! There are some points on the tour where you will not be able to take photos so our staff is there to get the pictures you don’t want to miss! We have extremely affordable options for you to take a digital copy of your entire adventure home with you!

Do you have a place to eat?

Inside our gift shop you will find a variety of snacks and drink along with some great souvenirs. We do not at this time have a restaurant but ask one of our staff, there is lots of great places to eat nearby!

Why do I have to be there a half-hour early?

During this half hour you will check in, get geared up, and receive instruction. It is VERY important you are on time.

Do you have bathrooms at your facility?

Yes. There are bathrooms at our check-in area; however, there are no bathrooms on the tour.

What's the weight limit?

You must weigh under 300 lbs in order to participate in the Big Island ATV tour. Anyone that weighs 250 lbs or more, we recommend being in good physical condition. We strongly discourage participating if anyone has recurring injuries or recent surgeries.

Do I need to tip my guide?

Tips are not expected but greatly appreciated. If you do decide to tip your guides, there is no expected amount.

Other questions?

Went out yesterday on the Polynesian ATV tour with some friends. It was definitely the most fun I've had since coming to island. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful. Our guides were Jerome and Erica they were awesome, and made the experience so fun and something to remember!

Had the best time doing a Polynesian ATV tour with them! It was not only a great course to drive an ATV on but all the stations were super fun and very informative. Our guides were Erica and Jerome, both were awesome! Jerome obviously had extensive knowledge of Polynesian culture and history, and his fire dancing was INSANE!! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the big island.

We did both the ATV tour and the wood carving. I loved cruising around learning the islands' cultures, playing games, and the entertainment! Our guides were awesome, super fun experience. The wood carving teacher is a fourth generation carver in the traditional style and an excellent teacher.

Hands down the best cultural experience on the island! There is definitely something to be said for cruising on your own ATV through the coffee trees, beautiful rainbow eucalyptus trees and untouched Hawaiian jungle!

We had an amazing experience on the ATV tour - learning about the history and cultural practices of different islands of Polynesia not only made it a fun adventure, but educational, engaging and informative too! Smelling coffee being roasted for parts of the excursion was also amazing and we felt totally immersed in the experience! Thank you!
